Saturday, April 11, Faith Academy, Mobile, will try to become a 100
consecutive winner in girls slow pitch softball. During the past
five years
they have a record of 200 - 5 and 5 state AISA championships.
This year they
have already won state titles in both volleyball and basketball and
are
looking for the title in track. I hope to see more coverage on
this in your
future rankings and stories. These girls have worked hard and
long and
deserve all the recognition they can get. Thanks for reading
this letter.
Sirs,
My name is Paul Thompson, and I am a new teacher at Mellow Valley High
School in Clay County. In addition to being a teacher I am also one
of
the baseball coaches. This is our first year for baseball, and I would
like to give you some information about our team. Due to this being
our first year, and starting very late, games were hard to come by,
but we did manage to schedule 10 games ( all road games since we do
not have a home field) including our area games against Wadley,
Loachapoka, and Edward Bell. Our remaining schedule is: 4-6
Loachapoka, 4-7 Woodland,
4-9 Loachapoka, 4-18 Edward Bell (DH), and 4-21 Ranburne. We are
currently 4-0, defeating Talladega Central in a double header 4-1 and
12-1. On 3-28 we played Wadley in a double header and won 12-4, and
7-6.
We do have some interesting players here at Mellow Valley such as Adam
Cheetwood (P, SS), a senior. He has the following stats:
IP=9.66, ER=2, BB=6, K=17, Batters=44,H=2, ERA=1.45
AB=12, H=5, BB=5, K=1, R=5, RBI=3, AVG=.417
Jody Nelson (1st, OF) is another senior, these are his stats:
AB=9, H=5, BB=7, K=1, R=6, AVG=.556
Will Davis (C, 1st) senior
AB=10, H=5, BB=4, K=3, R=4, RBI=3, 2B=3, AVG=.500
Leslie Dingler (P, 2B) junior
IP=12.33, ER=3, H=10, K=11, Batters=54, ERA=1.7
I do not know if any of this will be of interest to you but due to
this being our first year few people know that we are even playing
baseball and I want to get the word out.
Thanks
P. Thompson
